April also sees us launch TUSK Editions, a monthly digital publication that merges the old school record club idea with the current evolution of digital publishing and music releasing in the age of Covid/Brexit. TUSK Editions will launch with the first collaborative album by renowned Tyneside electronic producers Stephen Bishop (Opal Tapes) and Mariam Rezaei, an exclusive archival live recording from the legendary Jim O’Rourke, an intercontinental mix from the Hive Mind Records label.

Over 2 hours of exclusive digital music releases are accompanied by a 42-page full-colour digital magazine led by Stewart Smith’s 5000-word interview with the legendary William Parker , lockdown thoughts from our first TUSK TV host Jennifer Lucy Allan and more.

TUSK Editions#1 is now available for pre-order here

**TUSK Editions will cost £10 monthly – those joining our membership scheme will find it automatically in their inbox on the first Friday of each month.

On April 2, we launch TUSK TV featuring all the diverse international musical brilliance you’d expect from us in one potent monthly microdose. This first show is just over 4 hours long and totally free to view, repeated on a 12hour delay again to maximize overseas view-ability and then added to our online archive.

Featuring in Episode 1, presented by writer/presenter Jennifer Lucy Allan (BBC Radio3 etc) will be free jazz hero William Parker, US rapper Nappy Nina, Italian percussionist Valentina Magaletti and Norwegian skronk supergroup SPUNK.

The show will also feature William Parker in conversation with Stewart Smith, Maja and Kristin from SPUNK in conversation with Joe Murray; and Mariam Rezaei talking about Veil, her first duo album with Opal Tapes‘ Stephen Bishop.

A regular feature of TUSK TV will be Giant Tank’s Pot Luck, where Ali and Collette Robertson of the Edinburgh label lure two musicians/noisemakers into a ‘blind collaboration’ – this month they bring together Greg Kelley (in Boston, Mass) and Joyce Whitchurch (in Newcastle).

And we are also delighted to present the film Marshlands by Canadian artist and sound-maker Chik White, plus an exclusive video mix by the great Hive Mind label.

All free to view via this site from 8pm UK on Friday 2 April.

TUSK Virtual is completely free and all artists involved do get paid. However in the current crisis, the future of TUSK is uncertain just like everyone else’s. If you would like to donate to our continued survival and work, it would be enormously appreciated.
