Welsh artist Rhodri Davies is a long-time friend and ally of both TUSK and The Old Police House, having been resident for some years in Gateshead before returning to the land of his birth. Whilst up here, he also appeared on several Richard Dawson records and formed Hen Ogledd with the wonky troubadour, appearing at TUSK in both their duo and later quartet shapes. A shorthand for Rhodri’s musical approach could be that he does to the harp what Bill Orcutt does to the guitar. He tells us his proudest moment is being booed off stage at a more traditional harp fest for setting fire to his instrument. His latest wonderful solo record Telyn Rawn is played on a harp he designed himself built from horsehair and hide. A truly singular performer and also one of the loveliest people you’re ever likely to meet.
