Lea Bertucci is an NYC-based musician, an electro-acoustic minimalist with a special interest in spaces and their resonances. Growing up in the Hudson Valley, she’d thrill at the reverberations created by playing her sax in abandoned mineshafts.
Two of her recent releases on NNA Tapes caught our attention, All That Is Solid Melts Into Air and Metal Aether, showcasing how she can add up clarinet, magnetic tape and electronics to make much more than the sum of those parts. As well as a live solo performance by Lea, we’re excited to also present a performance of her piece Double Bass Crossfade featuring two improvising contrabass players and surrounded by an immersive array of speakers. This will take place in that cavernous resonating space that is Sage’s concourse. Pitchfork recently talked about how, in Lea’s music, “Harmonics accumulate and stretch toward infinity. Bertucci’s noise feels untethered and limitless.” We’re very excited to hear and feel how she will move the air around Sage in October.
