Intimate/intense performances in small spaces have always been a special pleasure at TUSK over the years and again we bring something special and perhaps a little disconcerting to experience at close quarters on TUSK Saturday. “Joyce Whitchurch” – as her official biog tells us – “has been around the UK with ‘Latent Power’, her live sell out lecture tour about how you can know, embrace and unlock the love and the music within you and how to help others come to that same awareness – and joy. Join Joyce as she brings her message to Newcastle and the Greater Tyne and Wear region this Autumn.” To deliver this message, Joyce may be recruiting the assistance of Ali Robertson (Usurper/Sonic Bothy) and Luke Poot. It’s also rumoured Joyce has some connection to Acrid Lactations. Her approach, knowingly or otherwise, certainly highlights the oddly surreal amongst the very real. We first had the pleasure of being drenched in Joyce’s wisdom at an Old Police House show last year – TOPH appropriately described her as follows: “The psychedelic domestic played out in front of your beady, greedy peepers. Like a play for today with the stuffing ripped out.” Pleasure in words and voices, oddity/normality.
Due to the demands her obsessive public continually hurl at her, Joyce is only available for one performance at TUSK – it will take place at 1pm on Saturday 12th and only 20 places are available. Please book your place now by dropping us a line at tuskmusic1(AT)gmail(DOT)com
