Chow Mwng is the current nom-de-musique of Welsh artist Ash Cooke via which Ash explores found sound, incidental noise and sonic collage. Local music lover and do-er David Howcroft has developed a project that grew from last year’s Nurse With Wound performance at TUSK whereby a tape recording of their set was multiply copied, chopped up versions then sent out to a number of interested parties with an invitation to re-assemble the item in whatever way pleased the re-assembler. Ash got so immersed in this idea that from his dismembered magnetic ribbon grew an entire performance. David’s project has bloomed into a full-blown exhibition that will be presented at TUSK this year (more to come on that later) and as part of our annual series of performances in confined spaces for small audiences, Chow Mwng’s response piece will be performed within the confines of the exhibition several times throughout the weekend.
Chow Mwng will perform at 2pm and 5pm on Saturday and at 11am on Sunday – please email firstname.lastname@example.org to book your place.
