Two very prolific names on the region’s noise scene over many years come together for a rare collaborative set at TUSK. Both reach for the guttural low end of darker sonics but with quite different approaches. Lee Stokoe’s Culver output is fuelled by the lowest possible spec, minimal technological advance producing maximal impact. In comparison, Kev Wilkinson’s stage set-up looks like he’s brought his entire studio onto the stage, hardware racked, leads cascading. What both share though is a deftness and great subtlety that, rather than worrying the eardrums, summons the alpha waves and invokes a strangely abrasive bliss.
